My name is Sita Thompson. I’m the Founder of SITA Couture -- a lifestyle apparel brand that serves the spa, resort, and yoga industries.
For nearly eight years, 100% of our apparel has been made in Los Angeles. I love this city and feel proud to be a part of it. I want to do everything I can to help others in our community get through this crisis.
As some of you may know, my mom suffers from an autoimmune disease and she has caregivers come to her home daily. Over the past few weeks, I have not been able to find a “protective mask” for her or her healthcare workers. It really scared me. On top of my concern for my mom, now in certain parts of the US, you will be fined if you are not wearing a mask.
I realized through this process, the best way I can help is to do what I do best -- design and sew.
So I sat down at my sewing machine to not only make the covers for N95 cotton cloth masks for caregivers, but also microfiber antibacterial masks for all of us wanting to stay safe. Alls masks are doubled, machine washable and very well made here in LA.
They are designed for protection, health, and comfort.
In order to help fund development, and get them to the people who need them most, I’ve created a donation program. For every 4 masks I sell, I will donate 1, to those in need in the City of Los Angeles.
I am also honored to be working with the LA Mayor’s Office, and we’re a part of the “Apparel Manufacturers Mobilized by Government to Fight Coronavirus”.
As production continues I will be using different colored fabrics. I will do my best to match a color preference, but cannot guarantee it will be available at the time of purchase.
I will share in my blog, what I continue to learn about how to protect yourself, loved ones and workers. I will also update you on how your purchases are helping others receive another layer of protection from this virus.
Know that I am sending you prayers, love, and light. We will all get through this difficult period together!
These are all doubled masks made of antibacterial microfiber or cotton. One is designed to be worn over the N95 mask -- not as a replacement for it -- for people in the medical field and appropriate for non-medical workers and community members. While they are not medical grade nor surgeons masks, they are made from doubled cloth and designed according to CDC recommendations for civilians.
