I’m thrilled to share my collaboration with SITA Couture to launch SITA Bonita—a collection that brings indigenous color and spirit into mainstream fashion.

I began beading in 2020 as a creative outlet, a way to express myself. I started by making necklaces alongside my mom, experimenting with various stones, colors, and layers, while she focused on earrings. Growing up, I admired her earring collections from different artisans, fascinated by how simple yet beautifully decorative pieces could elevate any aura. Inspired by this, I aimed to infuse that same light into others’ lives through my creations.

Joining the SITA Couture brand is an honor for me. I’ve always admired my sister’s creativity and independence with SITA Couture. During a drive to Encinitas for a work session with Sita, I wore one of my earrings and had a strong feeling it would lead to something new. That instinct led to the creation of SITA Bonita—a fusion of earrings and necklaces that radiate greatness, elegance, and connection. The name SITA Bonita is a tribute to our father, who always called us “Bonita,” admiring the way we carried ourselves with color, style, and versatility.

Beading is a sacred practice for me and reflects the heritage of my Huichol ancestors. Creating vibrant, meaningful art is in my blood. I use Czech Seed Beads, a tradition among the Huichol for over 300 years, valued for their size, strength, and consistency. These beads symbolize migration, love, tradition, and cultural preservation—a blend of indigenous knowledge and Western resources. Each color represents an element of nature: aqua for the vast ocean, blush for sunset skies, yellow for nourishing corn, and white for fluffy clouds that bring rain. Nature is my greatest inspiration, and I strive to replicate its seasons, colors, and light in my designs.

The SITA Bonita collection features elegant and lightweight pieces—perfect for those new to wearing long earrings and a wonderful addition for seasoned collectors. Each necklace is crafted to complement the earrings, enhancing their shine. I designed the necklaces as layering pieces, bringing the stones' earthy elements close to your meridian hub. They seamlessly transition from dress-up attire to casual outfits, framing your beauty and dancing with all elements of style. Wearing SITA Bonita not only draws attention but also tells a story and embodies nature’s inspiring greatness. After all, at our core, we are all part of nature—so why not weave it into our daily lives?
